Hi everyone. In the most recent episode we mentioned sharing a few maps to give a better impression of French army's offensives in 1915.
Included here are a broad map showing British and French offensives across the entire Western Front in 1915. There is also a more detailed map of the French offensive at Vimy Ridge in May 1915. Both of these are sourced from the British Official History.
Two further maps examine the French offensive in Champagne. The first map is from the French Official History and gives a good illustration of the ground over it was fought. A final black and white map from a post-war British history gives an impression of ground gained in Champagne - albeit at a terrible cost.
A final image from the Imperial War Museum shows a battery of French 155mm howitzers on the Champagne front.
